Alexander Bezzina graduated from the University of Malta in 1982 after reading for a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering. In 1985 he was awarded a Commonwealth scholarship to follow a two year M.Sc. degree course in Structural Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. On his return in Malta he was instrumental in setting up the Structural Engineering Division within the Projects section of the Works Department. In the early nineties, together with Keith Cole, he established the firm of Bezzina & Cole.
Alex has written and presented technical papers for International Journals and Conferences.

His main interests include various aspects of structural analysis and design. In this capacity as Project Leaders’ Unit Manager he is involved in the organisation and co-ordination of Bezzina & Cole’s services to clients.
Alex's main interest outside his professional work is the sport of Judo. In the past 35 years during which he has been practicing the sport, he has represented Malta as an athlete, coach and technical delegate in a number of international events. In 2007 he completed a three year foundation degree in sport (Sports Performance) - European Judo Union - EJU at the University of Bath, England.
