Rather simplistically, urban space may be defined as the space between buildings. Often the principles developed for the design of buildings have been extended to apply for public spaces. Indeed, urban design considerations often determine both the space between facades as well as the design of the same facades, as in Hausmann’s Paris or Nash’s Regent Street. Today complexities of transport, utilities and amenities further impinge on the resolution of urban space.
We believe that there is a considerable need to repair the

damage made to public space; removing redundant elements, designing well-mannered insertions, stitching the parts into a coherent whole, employing appropriate materials and landscaping and adopting uses which encourage regeneration.
Our urban design projects include the public piazza at Marsascala and the public realm interventions in connection with the InterContinental Hotel, St. Julians.
